The Re-Ordering of Statehood:

In the last eight years, and in the midst of our reform movement and democratization in this country, we feel that we sometimes do not have enough courage and refrain ourselves from mentioning words like Pancasila, 1945 Constitutions, Unitary State of Indonesia (NKRI), the Bhineka Tunggal Ika, national insight (wawasan kebangsaan), stability, development, pluralism, et cetera, to avoid being seen as incompatible with the reform and democratization movement, ot being lablled as non-reformist.


Promoting Peace and Conflict Resolution in a Transforming Indonesia

Well, I am pleased to say that I stand before you today not as a leader of a broken nation on the brink of collapse, but rejuvenated, confident nation on the path of a major transformation. I strongly believe that we are well on our way to attaining our own version of democratic peace throughout our vast country.


Promoting Democracies of Freedom and Tolerance

The Muslim community worldwide is not asking for special treatment. It is merely asking for the same respect that is given to other religious groups.
