Ramos Horta Dukung SBY Raih Nobel

Denpasar: Menteri Luar Negeri Timor Leste, Ramos Horta yang juga pernah meraih Penghargaan Nobel, menyatakan dukungannya kepada Presiden Republik Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono yang terpilih menjadi nominator peraih Penghargaan Nobel untuk Perdamaian. “I read about the nomination of His Excellency President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the Nobel Peace Prize, I fully supported as a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate my self “, “ kata Horta di sela – sela acara pertemuan bilateral antara Indonesia - Timor Leste, di Istana Kepresidenan Tampaksiring, Jumat (17/02/06).

Menurut Horta, dirinya percaya bahwa kepemimpinan Presiden SBY dapat menyelesaikan konflik yang terjadi di masa lalu. “I believe that President Susilo is a very good man, a man of Peace, he manages, under his leadership to resolve a conflict that cost many lives that went on for many-many years”, kata Horta.

Seperti juga Uskup Belo yang pernah mendapatkan penghargaan Nobel untuk Perdamaian, Horta menyatakan bahwa dirinya dan Uskup Belo sama – sama mendukung pencalonan Presiden SBY sebagai peraih penghargaan Nobel Perdamaian. Kata Horta, Presiden SBY layak mendapatkan penghargaan tersebut bukan hanya karena persoalan Aceh, tapi juga karena Presiden SBY adalah pemimpin dari negara yang penduduknya mayoritas muslim. “ Like Bishop Belo of Timor Leste who also a Nobel Peace laureate, we both support President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize, he deserved it and not only for the situation in Aceh, but also because of he is major Leader of an Islamic country,. “ kata Horta.

Dinominasikannya Presiden SBY untuk meraih Nobel, kata Horta, juga dapat membantu proses dialog antar negara, antar kebudayaan. “ The nomination of President Susilo can also help in the dialogue among countries, among civilization.
