Assalamu’alaikum warrahmatullahi wabarrakatuh,

Yang Mulia Presiden Musharraf dan para wartawan,
Saya bersama Presiden Musharraf baru saja melaksanakan pertemuan bilateral dalam kunjungan sehari Beliau ke Indonesia. Dan kami membahas, baik masalah bilateral maupun masalah internasional.

Dear journalists,
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
We just held a very good bilateral meeting with President Musharraf who is in the country visiting Indonesia. Today, we discussed bilateral and international issues.

Pada tingkat bilateral, kami sepakat untuk meningkatkan kerjasama, utamanya di bidang ekonomi, baik itu perdagangan maupun investasi. Dan mengingat pertumbuhan ekonomi Pakistan yang sangat baik, dipadukan dengan size atau magnitude dari ekonomi di Indonesia, kami percaya bahwa banyak peluang yang dapat kami tingkatkan dalam kerjasama ekonomi tersebut.

Bilaterally, we agreed to identify our economic cooperation particural on trade and investment and giving the impressive economic growth of Pakistan. We can be combined with Indonesia’s growth that would be a lot of opportunities to promote this intensified cooperation.

Indonesia juga memberikan dukungan kepada Pakistan dalam statusnya sebagai Full Dialogue Partner of ASEAN, yang Insya Allah dalam waktu dekat mendatang akan dapat dirumuskan pada tingkat ASEAN.

Indonesia also supports Pakistan becoming for Dialogue Partner for ASEAN which is something that would be discussed in the ASEAN Forum.

Disamping masalah bilateral, Presiden Musharraf dan saya mendiskusikan secara mendalam pikiran-pikiran kami, bagaimana Pakistan, Indonesia dan negara-negara Islam yang lain dapat melakukan langkah-langkah yang nyata untuk mencari solusi yang terbaik di Timur Tengah, khususnya di Palestina dan di Irak.

Apart from bilateral issues, President Musharraf and I engaged in very deep discussions on how Indonesia, Pakistan and other Islamic countries can engage in concrete action to help, promote this in the Middle East particulary part Palestine and Iraq.

Kami berpendapat bahwa bagaimana pun kita mengharapkan kedamaian yang pulih di Timur Tengah, harmoni yang lebih baik lagi diantara bangsa-bangsa yang ada di Timur Tengah dan kemudian makin berkurang kekerasan-kekerasan yang ada di wilayah itu. Dalam konteks ini, kebersamaan negara-negara Islam yang memiliki pikiran dan pandangan yang serupa dapat disatukan untuk memecahkan masalah-masalah tersebut.

We discussed the need to strengthen, to find regulation into peace in the Middle East and also to deliver harmony and also to reduce violence in the Middle East and to achieve these things we need to achieve greater dialogue and consultation and role of like-minded Islamic countries.

Saya sampaikan kepada Presiden Musharraf, bahwa Indonesia dalam waktu dekat juga akan menyelenggarakan konferensi yang akan dihadiri oleh ulama-ulama dari negara-negara Islam, terutama untuk mencari pandangan terbaik, bagaimana konflik internal di negara-negara Islam, khususnya di Timur Tengah itu dapat diselesaikan dengan bijak. Ulama yang akan kita undang adalah tentu dari ulama Syiah, ulama Suni dan pihak-pihak lain yang Insya Allah bisa ikut memberikan fatwa kepada kita semua, negara-negara Islam, terutama yang ada di Timur Tengah, bagaimana masalah perdamaian dapat diwujudkan dengan baik.

I also told President Musharraf of Indonesia’s thinking and Indonesia that to hold an International Conference for Ulamas from Islamic countries and their purpose is to engage the Ulamas to discuss what is the best way to address the conflict in Islamic countries. And we hope the views of these Ulamas can produce a constructive fatwa which will be beneficial to resolution of this conflict.

Presiden Musharraf juga mengangkat pandangan-pandangan beliau yang sangat baik dan pada garis besarnya saya menyambut baik dan mendukung pikiran-pikiran Beliau yang nanti akan kita dengar sendiri dari penjelasan Presiden Musharraf. Dan akhir dari konferensi pers ini, saya akan memberikan tambahan segaris dengan apa yang akan Beliau sampaikan kepada Saudara-saudara.

Thank you very much, Mr. President. First of all, let me express my gratitude on behalf on my self, my wife and my entire delegation for the hospitality, for the warmth and the many curtocies, that are being extended to me and my delegations since the time we arrived in your beautiful country last eveing.

Today I had an excellence meeting with my brother, the President, we discussed bilateral issues and we reviewed our diplomatic and political relationships and we expressed total satisfaction after really warmth political relation that we have between our two countries. That issue, I raised this issue of Pakistan’s desire to become powerfull dialogue partner within the ASEAN. And I must express my gratitude to the President for his expressional support to all desire to become a full dialogue partner in the week in the ASEAN during the summit meeting this year.

On the economic front, we support express the desire of enhancing our economic and commercial cooperation between our two countries within the century of geo-economics, we need to see make our bonds, our diplomatic and political bonds to stronger and more enhanced economic relationship.

But the bigger idea that what brings me here to Indonesia and the idea that I exchanged with my brother, the Mr. President for the issue of determile within the Moslem world. We reviewed the determile in Palestine, in Iraq, in Lebanon, in Afganistan and we both have concerned of views in requirement of a new initiative, a new initiative to contribute, to resolving this groups and bringing harmony to main Moslem world.

And within this new initiative, we thought of the requirement of connecting, gathering a group of influence truth, a group of like-minded Moslem countries together, so that we could bring harmony into the Moslem world and also contribute toward resolution of this group without extreme within the Moslem world. And within this once we desire on this like-minded group, we also have decided that will together keep consulting with His Majesty King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, so that we proceed further in getting this group together, envoicing our joint opinion on how to result this group and being harmony into the Moslem world.

We hope, there why to contribute jointly to work peace and harmony not only within the Moslem world but also in the whole world at large. We both very that is the time has come for action and that there is no rule for complexions, because things are moving so fast in that periodicly so fast that we need to erase this detail waiting hand and take it tour than improving hand for the war world and especially for the Moslem world. And I must expess my gratitude to the President that we have total confidence of views. And we will know proceed further from year on world, we will keep comforting each other and we will keep comforting His Majesty King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia on moving forward and maturing these ideas further in the coming days and taking the process of peace further toward betterman as I said of the world and the Moslem world. I thank you.

Saya mendukung prakarsa Raja Abdullah bin Abdul Azis dari Saudi Arabia untuk mengundang Pimpinan Hamas dan Fattah untuk sebuah pertemuan di Saudi Arabia. Sekaligus saya berharap, mudah-mudahan pertemuan itu bisa dilaksanakan dan menghasilkan sesuatu yang baik, karena bagaimana pun kita prihatin apabila konflik internal di Palestina masih berlangsung. Dan kita justru berharap, baik Pimpinan Hamas maupun Fattah betul-betul bisa membentuk unity government, sehingga dengan demikian akan lebih memudahkan langkah-langkah berikutnya lagi untuk penyelesaian masalah Palestina yang terbaik, Kemerdekaan Palestina sebagai negara yang berdaulat.

We discussed on general issues on how could be enhance and promote our trade and investment relations. We agreed to follow this meeting up by tasking our Minister for further discuss what the possible cooperation to be made in the future, reliazing against that the size of our economy is quite significant to be enhanced for further. We did not discuss on specific issues on this matter but we do want to have a good and sound trade and economic relations while addressing issues before us to have against a better economic cooperation.

Related to the ideas of President Musharraf, as I have said, I welcome and I support fully the ideas on consulting all leaders like-minded Islamic countries to be part of the overall solution, bringing peace in the Middle East, solving problems in the Middle East for the future of our brothers and sisters for a good harmony and for lasting peace that we are all endavour.

Kalau untuk konferensi ulama, saya meminta Pimpinan Nahdatul Ulama, Bapak Hasyim Muzadi dan Pimpinan Muhammadiyah, Bapak Din Syamsudin bersama-sama dengan pimpinan agama, ulama yang lain untuk merancangnya dan kita sudah punya pengalaman sebetulnya untuk melakukan konferensi cendekiawan dan ulama 2 kali di negeri kita ini. Dan harapan saya, para ulama kita bisa mengorganisasi dengan baik, bisa mengundang tokoh-tokoh yang tepat dan sekarang sedang dirumuskan dari negara mana dan siapa yang diharapkan bisa hadir dalam pertemuan ulama yang akan datang.

The other the question that you asked me, if peace group is like-minded is strong, is credible and is acceptable to all, it will have a voice, it will be heard by all. Therefore we want to, we need to make this like-minded group with this quality that I’ve said. And since established is looking and searching for methods and new ideas of bringing peace to the region, I think any new idea, any new initiative would be acceptable to them as long is workable and as I said it is credible and acceptable to all.

Indonesia is also fixing the same challenge on how to maintain peace and harmony in this country how to prevent in combat terrorism not to happen again here in this country. It’s quite clear that we do not tolerate any act of terrorism. We have to deal with this threat properly, not only directly combating yet of terrorism but also addressing the rude causes of terrorism in justice, backwardness and other things, so we conduct actual track in preventing and combating terrorism. I fully share what Pakistan is fixing now because we are also fixing the same problems. And I understand and I also learn what President Musharraf talk in dealing with terrorism and I could see the similiarities of our view in dealing with the act of terrorism in our both countries, Pakistan and Indonesia.
